TaxCut is another top-rated tax preparation software that is ideal for simple tax returns. It is very easy to use and navigate and asks you questions in order to fill in information for you (although the questions can be a tad bit confusing sometimes). TaxCut offers tax advice and can import tax or financial information from TurboTax, MS Money, H&R Block Deduction Pro, Its Deductible, Quicken, and previous versions of TaxCut. It has an extensive Help section and answers any questions you may have along the process.
TaxACT is a top pick for straightforward tax returns, being the lowest priced out of the top three tax preparation programs and premium features. It is a little difficult to navigate and doesn’t include a 401(k) maximizer but does have many other great features. Some features are the “What-If” tax planner, a great Help section, and catches data entry errors. TaxACT is also the only tax preparation program to have FAFSA worksheets as well as the only one to have joint versus separate filing.

It is easy to navigate and gives you national average comparisons, among many other great features. TaxACT is cheap but good for simple tax returns and has many great features. Some of these features include error checking and final tax reviews, tax data importing, year-to-year deduction comparisons, joint versus separate filing, and the option for a direct deposit refund.
Complete Tax comes in at number 4 in the top 10 tax software reviews, according to TopTenReviews.com, with Electronic Filing Service following at number 5. These products for tax returns have many great features, although not as many as the top 3 tax software programs. TurboTax is the ultimate tax preparation program. TurboTax is one of the easiest tax programs to use and navigate through and includes online updates. All you need to do is answer the questions it asks you and it does the rest. It has an extensive Help section so if you don’t know how to answer a question, just go there and you’ll be sure to find your answer. TurboTax also catches data entry errors, offers tax advice, explains tax regulations, provides expert cost/basis assistance, gives you the option of printing and filing a paper return or filing electronically, and many other options. Overall, TurboTax is very easy to use and navigate and provides excellent advise on investment opportunities.
